I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It's hard to believe it is now December! Please encourage those students working on a particular sound to use that sound, for example, while you are driving in the car. That is a great time to work on a sound and not take up time specifically for speech drill. Tell them you will be listening for the correct sound when they talk with you.
If your child is working on vocabulary, please use opportunities while reading a book to discuss unfamiliar words. This is also a good time to discuss the main characters, the setting of the story, and the main character's problem. How does he/she solve it? How does the story end?
If a student is working on higher-level language skills, ask your child why a character of a story did a certain thing, or have him/her predict what will happen next in the story.
Enjoy December and the break!
