Third Grade-
I am so proud of my students! They were such good listeners and put forth their best effort while taking the Cognitive Abilities Test. I know they will continue to try their best and take their time each day this week as we take the IOWA Test of Basic Skills. The children will be tested in the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Please continue to make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast each morning and sleeps well each evening. The testing will take place each morning this week. Therefore, the children will not have a spelling list or test this week.
Second Grade-
Our vowel pattern of the week is the sound of 'ee' as in the word 'street'. We will learn about the spelling rule for two vowels together as we read and decode long vowel words. We will read a play titled The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Each student will have a character's part. The children really enjoy this as they read to improve their expression and fluency.
In math we are learning to add coins and bills. We also will make change using coins. The children will play a game called 'Roll to $1.00". It's a fun way to learn money equivalents and to make eventrades of coins!
First Grade-
Our vowel pattern of the week is the sound of short a. We will begin using the vowel patterns to spell new words. We have been working on blending the sounds to read words and now we will blend sounds to spell words. We will make a 'cat' book of short a words to spell.
In Math we will continue with our addition and subtraction facts as we also learn about fact families. We will make a 'fact family house' of related facts
