Third Grade Open House
Open House for parents of my third grade students will take place this
Tuesday, August 28th at 6:00 p.m. We will share the third grade curriculum in math and language arts for this 2007-08 school year. I hope to see you Tuesday evening!
Third Grade-
In guided reading we will read a great story titled The Story Box. This relates to our mini-lesson in writing workshop where we will be learning about 'ideas' for our writing. These lessons will help us as we begin our personal narratives. Our vowel pattern of the week in spelling is the sound of /ai/ as in 'chain'.
In math we will continue with place value as we compare and order numbers through the ten thousands.
We will complete a math activity on our Harcourt Math website in comparing numbers using our classroom computers!
Second Grade-
As we read several stories this week in guided reading, we will compare the characters and settings of the stories. We will discuss how they are alike and different. Our vowel pattern of the week is the sound of short 'i. We will search for words containing short 'i' in our reading.
In math we will continue using strategies as we add numbers. We will begin learning about the clue words in problem solving stories.
