KEHELEY ELEMENTRARY IS HELPING SAVE LIVES!
Dear Parents,
On March 2, our school will be holding a Jump Rope for Heart event during school. The students will be learning jump-rope skills and have the opportunity to fight heart disease, our nation’s No.1 killer by raising donations.
Donations will be given to the American Heart Association, which funds lifesaving research and educational programs for the prevention of heart disease. Students will learn the value of physical activity while participating in this community service. It all increases the understanding of the seriousness of heart disease and the lifelong health benefits of physical activity. Students will also learn that they can make a difference while having fun.
Family and friends are welcome to support your child’s participation by making contributions. Your child can also raise money online. However, we ask that children do not go door-to-door or ask strangers for donations.
Here’s how students can raise money online:
- Go to: www.heart.org/jump or www.heart.org/hoops (Click on sign up)
- Click on our state
- Find your school name and click “Join this Team”
- Set your fundraising goal
- Fill out your information (username and password)
- Click “Complete Registration”
- To raise $, send emails to friends and family! You can check your page to see the progress made!
This year, the American Heart Association will be giving strawberry scented pencils to the first 30 students to send 10 emails online! Let’s see if our school can reach over 300 emails sent!
In addition, students that raise $100 or more will get so sign the Jump Rope for Heart ceiling tile! We will also award the top classroom with the Jump Rope for Heart banner as bragging rights for the remainder of the year. And, if our school reaches our goal of $7,500, every classroom will get to have a “Free Choice” PE day.
If your employer has a matching gift program, please indicate the matched amounts on the Sponsor Form of the collection envelope. Please return all collection envelopes by Friday, March 2. Please make any checks payable to the American Heart Association. Thank you for your support of this community service project.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lawson
