Hope every one had a wonderful weekend! I know I did...loving these Fall like temperatures!
What are we doing and why???
Learning Targets/Standards for the week:
Math- We will focus on subtraction. We will work on using the strategy of drawing a picture to create a subtraction problem. PLEASE remember we do move to new standards but we continue to maintain the standards that have been covered. Your child needs to practice addition facts at home. Students are expected to know addition and subtraction facts with fluency by the end of the year. This will be assessed each 9 weeks for your child's report card.
Language Arts- Our reading lessons will continue to focus on identifying story elements, such as characters, setting, beginning, middle, end and making text- to-self connections. This week we will be making prdeictions. We make predictions when we are inferring!
Writing- Last week we were very successful with writer's workshop. Students wrote personal narratives about themselves and they did a great job. Students are working hard on building their writing stamina by writing longer stories and for longer periods of time. This week students will write about a personal experience they have had on a trip. We will write our sloppy copies first then have writing conferences (edit) to fix up their writing before it becomes a final copy.
Social Studies- We will continue to learn about Benjamin Franklin has his contributions. Ask your child what they have learned so far!
Please help your child to remember his/her Media Center books for Friday!
We still need permission slips returned for Performing Arts and our upcoming trip to the Apple Orchard. THANKS!
Have a great week!
Bye For Now!!!
