WOW!!!

I can't believe this our last week of school!  Time certainly did fly by this year.  I want to thank each and everyone of you for a FANTASTIC year!  You have wonderful children and they are amazing with all they accomplished this year!

Please keep everything we send home in a special spot to use on a rainy day, to take on a trip in the car, etc...You will be receiving your summer packet on Tuesday and we have sent several workbooks home already.  Please know all of this will help keep your child up to speed for first grade.  I can't tell you enough to read, read, read and write, write, write!!!

I would like to give Joey Pullley a HUGE thank you for all that she has done this year to help out with our class.  She has taken many pictures, set up many celebrations and made some precious goodies for all of us to remember!  LOVE YA, Joey!

Please know that on Friday your child may not bring a bookbag or lunchbox to school.  If they are planning to be a packer to please bring it in a brown bag. All items will come home on Thursday so bookbags will not be needed!

I do like to send out a few BLOG messages in the summer so please check in every once in awhile...

Class News

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms out there!  I hope you are having a GREAT day!

It is so hard to believe that we are down to our final 2 weeks.  Please know that we will be working hard until the very end.  We still need rules to be followed, daily snacks to be brought in and being at school on time.

I am working on a summer packet to send home with your child for you to use this summer.  We have learned so much and it does not need to be forgotten.  Trust me it will be forgotten if there is not time set aside to ask some specific questions, practice writing sentences, and reading daily.  We want your child to start their first grade experience with a positive attitude and this review packet will allow them to feel confident as they return in August!  Please be your child's learning partner!!!

This week we will continue to learn the difference in addition and subtraction.  We will play class games that review all standards and just enjoy our days together.

Hope you have a GREAT week!

Thursday is Field Day.  Thanks to those of you who have offered your time to volunteer on this special day.  I will not be at school on this fun day due to my Dad having some surgery.  I will be back on Friday.

Friday is Muffins For M'Lady...we will see you at 7:30AM.  The kids have a special book for you that you are sure to keep forever.  The things they say and tell about you are priceless!

All Media Center books are due this week.  If you have misplaced a book now is the time to search.

We will continue to work hard until the end.  I have planned for some fun games to review all our standards in each curriculum area...we shall see who remembers what???

April 27th Class News

We had a GREAT field trip today!  I hope your child was able to tell what their favorite part of the day was?!  I thought making the animal habitat using living and non living things was a super way to review habitats.  All the children had wonderful Keheley manners and really showed the ladies there that they knew their Science standards.  Way To Go, Lindsey Learners!

We will continue our study on plants, addition, and keep writing with simple directions this week.

Are you planning on attending the Art Show on Friday night or what about the movie?  I know it is going to be a fun time and I hope I see you there!

This will be our last week to check out books from the Media Center.  All books are due back on May 7th.

Our magic crayons will be coming home this week.  This was one of our GREEN lessons that we did recycling crayons.  Pretty cool, huh?

Rememeber next Tuesday night is the Kindergarten BIG End of the Year Performance.  It begins at 6:30 PM but we need your child in our classroom at 6:15.  Have those purple class shirts ready to wear again that night.  THANKS!

Have a GREAT week!

April 19th Class News

This week Kindergarten will have a schedule change with our specials and lunch due to the CRCT testing in grades 1st-5th.  We will be going to P.E, Art and Music in the AM from 10:05-10:35 and lunch will be from 10:45-11:15.

Save these dates:

May 5th at 6:30 PM Kindergarten performs their end of the year performance.  It is sure to be a GREAT show...bring those cameras!  We are asking that the children wear their class purple shirts for this special show!

May 7th is Field Day and volunteers will be needed.  Be on the look out for a note from Mrs. Lawson in what ways we will need volunteers and the times!

May 8th is Muffins for M'Lady at 7:30-8:00 AM.  Students are able to invite one special lady to our class for a muffin and juice.  This is very similar to Donuts for Dudes except this is for our special ladies!  Looking forward to seeing you!

Did you know that we are officially a GREEN classroom?  We received our letter and sticker from the county last week.  YEAH!!!  Earth Day is Wednesday...let your child come to school on Wed. with some newspapers and/or old magazines to recycle in our Keheley recycling bins.  We will walk to the front parking lot and discuss what recycling bins are and why we have them here at Keheley for our community to use.

Remember it is Cobb County policy that I must have a permission slip on every child in order for them to leave the Keheley campus for a field trip...if you have not sent in your child's permission slip and donation please do.  THANKS!

Our focus this week in Math will be adding 2 sets of numbers (addition), our end of the problem soloving assessment (pictures, numbers and at least 2 math words) and of course working with money thru our Goods and Services.

In Science we will begin learning about plants.

In Writng we will continue to review all our writing standards and keep the focus on Simple Directions using those very important key words.  Brush up on these at home by asking questions.  Conversation about what your child is doing in the classroom is very important!

Have a SUPER week!

April 15th Class News

Have you been wondering where I have been?  Just a bit "slack" trying to get back into the swing of things following a week at the beach!  I really enjoyed my break with my family and hope you did too!

This week we have been discussing the sequence of a rainbow and reading some non fiction books that tell us about how rainbows are formed.  We did a cool experiment using a black marker, coffee filter and a little bit of water.  The children were able to see how the color black absorbs all the other colors in the rainbow...they were truely amazed!  We also learned a man's name to remember the correct order of a rainbow, Roy G. Biv.

We continue to have our writing focus be on simple directions using key words such as: first, next, then, last, after that and finally.  We have been getting in our learning groups and working as teams on simple directions for Mrs. Lindsey to follow.  Our work in progress is How to build a Sand Castle...I am looking forward to reading them and having them present their writing to each others groups.

Have you heard about our Goods and Services that we have started in all of our Kindergarten classrooms?  Let me give you some information...each day the children are earning money to save for shopping in our classroom store that will be only open on Fridays. This is a FUN  way to teach Economic Understandings in Kindergarten.  WOW!  If you have not yet purchased things for our Treasure Box and would like to donate candy for our Candy Jar to help out with our Goods it would greatly be appreciated!  Be sure to ask your child on Friday if they spent their money or are they saving for something special.  I am curious to see if will spend their money in our first week and who will save???

I am assessing the children for the end of the year report for GKIDS and look forward to you receiving the information as it is returned back to Keheley.  This assessment will be a GREAT tool for you and your child to use this summer to keep up with all our standards and to practice in the areas that show need mastery.

Another SHOUT OUT to all of our Lindsey Learners for reaching our 25 Books...we were 100% for our class!  YAHOO!  Friday we will be having a special assembly to kick off this celebration!

March 30th Class News

Thank you to everyone who came out last Friday in the rain to help us earn straws in our annual Straw Walk.  Once again Mrs. Lawson and Mrs. Tramble did a GREAT job with this event.  Although we did not win for the Straw Walk we did win the trophy for the month of March beating the other Kindergarten classes.  Way To Go, Lindsey Learners!!!

A BIG shout out to all of you purchased a Book Fair book for our classroom.  You are the BEST!!!

This week we will work on Simple Directions using some very important key words: first, next, then, last, finally, and after that.  See if your child is able to verbally give you some simple directions if so can they write you some simple directions???  This will be our writing focus standard for the next 9 weeks.

In math we will be using lots of math tubs reviewing standards that have already been taught and now we will review.  We will also be adding in tubs working on number combinations to 10.  In Kindergarten we make our number combinations like this: 7 and 3 is 10.

Our April calendar will be coming home on Tuesday and it is a 2 sider... one side has a calendar and the other side has the nightly reading to color in.  Please keep these in your folder for the month of April as you did your March calendar.  THANKS!

We hope everyone has a GREAT Spring Break.  If you are traveling please be safe!

Bye For Now!
