Learning Targets:
Math- We continue to learn about balanced equations and missing addends.
For example:
3 + 2 = 4 + 1
6 + 4 is the same as 3 + 3 + 4
7 + 2 = ___ + 0
Math concepts we continue to work on are:
· Identifying even and odd numbers.
· Skip counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. (This is a tough concept.)

· Working with numbers to 100.
Language Arts- We continue to work with adjectives, nouns, and verbs. Ask your child if he or she can identify a noun, verb or adjective in a sentence. The students are learning to write words in alphabetical order (ABC order) and using the dictionary to find words. We will begin to talk about reading words with inflectional endings- ing, es, s, ed.
Other concepts we continue to practice and build on:
· Digraphs- wh, th, sh, ch
· Short vowels and long vowels.
Writing- The students are learning to write narratives and creating pattern books. A narrative is a story about an event or series of events. Student will not be using the words me, my, I, our, and us which are personal narrative words.
Science- We will be learning about magnets. Students will identify common objects that are attracted to a magnet. Students will identify objects and materials that do not block magnetic force. Words that the students will learn is magnetic force, attract, and repel.
Social Studies- We will be learning about Thomas Jefferson. Students will identify the contributions made. Students will understand the importance of the Declaration of Independence, the Louisiana Purchase, and his role in finding the University of Virginia.
