November News

We're excited about our upcoming Performing Arts field trip to see the play King Tut. On Monday, November 10th, we'll be loading up the buses for our first big trip.  Third graders will be eating lunch at Keheley early (about 10:00 a.m.) and leaving the building at 11:00. Permission forms were filled out and returned already in August.

In Curriculum News....
Please remember to review multiplication facts each night with your child. Visit http://www.multiplication.com for a variety of games for extra practice. This activity beats video games any day!

Reading Rocks in Third Grade

Hi Parents---We're so proud that many of our students  are participating in "Race to the Finish" reading program at Keheley.  The first reading goal of 6 books read and 6 responses is due by October 15, and we are thrilled that so many will meet this goal.  When students meet this goal, they will receive a free personal pan pizza.  In addition, Brusters is rewarding a free ice cream cup for every 10 books read--yummy!!!!
At home, at school and everywhere--READ, READ, READ!

Our Third graders have started multiplication--Ask them to show you 5x7 in an array, as repeated addition, and in groups!

Don't Forget:  Early Release on Oct. 15

CogAT and ITBS, oh my!

We have had a great first day of testing!  The children worked hard, tried their best, and took everything in stride. A good morning was had by all.

Thursday, September 18th, finishes up the CogAT. The ITBS will take place all five mornings the week of September 22nd. Please encourage your child to eat breakfast on those mornings, either at home or at school. It is difficult to concentrate with a rumbling tummy.

Our school goal to read 25 books this year is off to a terrific start, especially after last Friday's motivating assembly. ITBS week would be a great week to encourage more reading at home.

A reminder: Please send in those performing arts permission slips/donation if you have not yet done so. If you need another form we would be happy to send one home.

We enjoyed seeing so many of you at Brusters on 3rd Grade Night. Third graders know how to have a good time!

Awesome August

Wow!  We have had a wonderful first week of school! We have enjoyed getting to know your children and are geared up for a great year. Thank you for your attendance at Open House this past Thursday evening. It was nice to  meet early in the school year. We are looking forward to seeing you again on September 2nd as we share more about the standards based education happening in every room at Keheley.

Fabulous February!

Fabulous February

Wow, February is projected to be an exciting month for thind graders!

In addition to the rockin' recorder concert on February 5th we have the Sock Hop on Friday evening, Feb. 8th from 7:00-8:00. Be there or be square!

If you did not get enough pizza at the Sock Hop be sure to stop by Stevie B's on Monday the 25th to share some pizza with your third grade teacher.

In addition to all this fun and food we are stijll learning! In fact, we are learning all about healthy food. Be sure to ask your third grader for some shopping and cooking assistance. He should be able to help you select some healthy fruits and vegetables, read an indredients label and suggest a recipe of two as well.

Our math request was to keep practicing those multiplication facts, and boy, have you honored our request! The children are really showing growth and will be ready for those 2-digit multiplication and division problems that are just on the horizon. Let's keep it up!
